Water Shortage How to Survive
The Bible Predicts Our Water May Become Deadly
Are You Prepared for a Water Shortage?

The Bible speaks of a future water shortage. Revelations 8:10–11 warns us: “the third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on 1/3 of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of this star is Wormwood. Many people die of the water because it had been made bitter.”
Wormwood is a very bitter herb found in Palestine. It is used symbolically in several biblical verses to represent something bitter or deadly. (Lamentations 5:15, Amos 5:7 & 6:12)
This is one of many judgments of doom to take place shortly before Jesus’s second advent.
One issue to be considered is the amount of water needed to survive. The recommendation is at least 1 gallon per day per person for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing dishes. And an additional gallon for bathing.
No one can live long without water.
Water Shortage Caused By Natural Disaster
Short-term water disruptions often happen after a natural disaster, like floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, or hurricanes.
Water shortages are more common in third-world countries. But even the US. has seen cases like Flint, Michigan, and Newark, New Jersey, where contaminants made the water unsafe.
One precaution is to have a supply of bottled water on hand.
Since I live in the country, I have a well. Therefore, even a disruption in electricity means I must depend on my water storage.
I store water in bleach bottles. But any strong plastic or glass jug will work. Add a few drops of regular household bleach to each bottle. Use a clean dropper from your medicine cabinet.
Every year, I rinse out the bottles, refill them with fresh water, and add more bleach. Chlorine bleach loses potency after a year.
Only use regular, unscented bleach. Do not use color safe or bleach with added cleaners. Use the following table to determine how much bleach to use. Use the label on the bottle to determine which kind of bleach you have.

Don’t store bottles of water in the attic. If they burst, you will have a mess. I speak from experience.
Consider your water heater as an additional source of clean water.

What to Do For Long-Term Water Shortage
You can use water from a river or a lake. Flowing water is the best. Avoid water with an unusual color or odor. Water near roadways or pavement will likely have oil or other pollutants in it.
First, you need containers to hold the water.
Second, you need a filter to remove large particles. Coffee filters are great. But a clean cloth, like a pillowcase or a sheet, will do.
Third, you need a large pot to boil water in. Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute. Three minutes if you are at a high altitude.

Fourth, if you cannot boil the water, you can use household bleach, following the previous instructions.
Fifth, you could use water purification tablets. These do not require special equipment or fuel for a fire to boil the water. They are small and portable. Emergency kits often include purification tablets. Just follow the instructions on the label. Both Walmart and Amazon sell purification tablets.

Sixth, after using bleach or purification tablets, allow the water to sit for at least 30 minutes before drinking. You can remove the chlorine flavor and smell when using bleach by allowing the water to sit uncovered for 30 minutes. You can also pour the water back and forth from one clean container to another.
Seven, both boiled and chlorinated water taste flat. Adding a pinch of salt will help. If you have children, you might include Kool-Aid or other powdered flavoring in your emergency supplies.
